The Scholarship will pay the full cost of Tuition at the University of Liberia for the academic year 2011.

Terms of Reference
Name and Type of Committee
The name of the committee shall be the UL Scholarship Committee (ULSC). It is an ad-hoc or special committee.
General Purpose
The UL Scholarship Committee (ULSC) is responsible to manage the selection and awards of grants and scholarships offered by the Association to students of the University of Liberia .
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The ULSC is responsible to:
Coordinate process for the funding of the grant and scholarship program.
Define and develop the general requirements for eligibility.
Define and develop the criteria on which applications are reviewed.
Solicit and review applications, select and reward grants and scholarships for qualified applicants.
Monitor the performance and responsibilities required of each holder.
Receive data on all grants and scholarships awarded and report the data to the Executive Committee.
Advertise availability of scholarships and grants.
Announce winners at a General Assembly of the LCAC or Executive Committee Meeting.
Define and develop the administration of each scholarship and grant.
Define and develop the scenario and/or circumstances under which a scholarship or grant may be withdrawn and unused balance refunded to the Association.
Seek out new grants and scholarships, including designated scholarships and grants.
Composition and Appointment of Members
The composition of the ULSC shall consist of a chairperson, co-chairperson and members willing to volunteer their services and appointed by the President in accordance with the Constitution.
Meetings
Meetings will be held as necessary and they are scheduled by the Chairman, with advance notice to the members.
Reports
The Committee will report in writing on its activities and programs regularly to the Executive Committee. If necessary, the Committee may be required to present a report to the Board of Directors and/or the General Assembly.

Before ending his whirlwind tour of the United States, the president of the University of Liberia visited and congratulated the Liberian Community Association in Connecticut for their support to LU students through the scholarship program. He also accepted to delivered a check from LCAC to the registrar at LU to cover the 1st semester fees for the 20 students awarded LCAC scholarships.
In a
letter
to the Program chairman, the president of the nation's highest and prestigious institution of learning, expressed profound gratitude to the Liberian Community Association in Connecticut for the generous contribution to the education of the nation's youth.

The Liberian president HE Ellen Johnson Sirleaf met briefly with Liberian community leaders form Connecticut during her last state visit to the United States. The president expressed her profound thanks and gratitude to the Liberian Community Association in Connecticut (LCAC) for awarding 20 scholarships to Liberians at the University of Liberia. She praised the community for taking the lead in awarding scholarships to students at the nation's highest institution of learning.
In a cordial tete-ta-tete with Hon. James C. Blyee - LCAC Board Secretary and Sr. representative to ULAA , the president advised that students in Science and Engineering Department at LU should be the principal target for future scholarships. She expressed her frustration in failing to hire Liberian Engineers, leaving her with no choice but to consider foreigners for lucrative Engineering jobs.
For his part, the Connecticut political guru thanked the president for her acknowledgement and promised to share her suggestion with Dr. Emmett Dennis-LCAC Scholarship Chairman and LCAC president Hon. Alex Quermollue.
